This is a paragraph block. It is the default block on the WordPress page. All other blocks on a page can be chosen from the block chooser or by typing a slash and the block name:
/block-name
This is an H1 Heading
H1 is used sparingly. Above the H1 is a spacer block set to 40 pixels. We use spacers at 20, 40, 60, 80 pixels. most commonly 20-60px.
In addition to spacers, blocks can be spaced with Margin (space outside of a block), and Padding (space within a block), and Block Spacing (space between blocks).
Most blocks automatically have space between them, like these paragraphs. Notice the different Margin around the Headings below.
There are TONS of blocks, but you’ll be able to create great layouts using just columns, widths, colors, spacing and images.

The Media and Text block
is just a fancy set of columns with its own type of settings.
On this one I changed the background and text color.
This is the same Content
…just in a plain columns block.
You can adjust the vertical alignment of a column. This one is centered top to bottom, default is top.

Column Styles
You can give the Columns block background colors, and each individual Column a different color. These are semi-transparent white.
This Columns block is standard width. Standard, wide and full width are available on most blocks. If those options are not available, you can put a block inside of a group to give it more options (even just one block!)
More Column Styles
These individual Columns have additional padding on them so the text doesn’t run into the edge of the color
Above is a Separator block.
We usually use these with the ‘Wide Line’ setting and sometimes change the Background Color. You can adjust the Padding and Margin on these as well.
Video
Embed video using the YouTube block. Copy and paste the YouTube URL into the block.
Use the ‘Share’ button on YouTube to get the shortest URL.
You can also remove
https://youtu.be/F3eLf8bulpY?feature=shared
from the end.
In the Block chooser there is a Patterns tab. There you’ll find lots of block combinations pre-combined into nice layouts. A couple of these are custom for this site: the full-width Photo Heading for new pages, and all the page content for new Properties.
This paragraph has larger text and a background color! If you want to make multiple paragraphs in a color like this you’ll have to use a group.
I’m using ‘soft returns’ to separate these paragraphs (press shift+return), but they don’t have the standard spacing between.
Below is a typical ‘query loop’ that automatically pulls in posts. You can change what it pulls in and how it is displayed (advanced – because it’s a bunch of nested blocks). Note the read more… is lowercase and italic with ellipsis.
