Join us Saturday, April 16 at the Mill Pond Conservation Area to take part in year two of transforming open space in Westport. Last year, with the help of the community, the Westport Land Conservation Trust (WLCT) established a small grove of heirloom variety fruit trees on the one acre field that abuts Reed Road.

The Mill Pond Grove is an experimental, non-commercial community fruit tree grove that is holistically managed without the use of chemical sprays and fertilizers. The goal is to bring the community together around a shared love for locally grown food and Westport’s agricultural heritage.

It is time to double down on our efforts from last year and we need your help to make this experiment in community food systems a success. Bring rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and gloves if you have them! We will be planting new heirloom variety fruit trees, and prepping for another spectacular growing season at the Mill Pond Grove.
