Student volunteer from Westport Woods Opening 2019

Want to get outside, make a difference in your community and share the best of Westport with families? Then WLCT has a volunteer roles for you.

This year, WLCT is going to be hosting a variety of new programs and ways for the public to interact with Westport’s unique natural resources. We are excited to expand our program and event offerings, but also need an extra hand. We have several programs and events where we are seeking volunteers to support the effort:

  • Easter Egg Hunt (Sunday 4/3)
  • Interactive, On-property Pop up Tents (April-October)
  • Westport Woods Learning Center Activities
  • Story Time in the Children’s Garden at Westport Woods

We are looking for committed individuals to help curate our outdoor education and outreach programs. Pop Up Tents will need thoughtful volunteers to facilitate learning materials based on a set theme of the week each month. The Children’s Garden will host a story time read along on select Friday mornings throughout the summer in partnership with the Westport Public Library. Along with the story readings, the Learning Center located at Westport Woods will be opening up soon. The room will be filled with engaging activities, posters, and books for people of all ages to explore topics of nature and conservation. Volunteers at the Learning center will be trained on how to lead activities mainly focused on families.

You can read more about these events on our webpage, and sign up for Pop Up Tents, Learning Center, Children’s Garden Volunteer slots on this Google Calendar or Email Mather Hoyt with the event/program you would like to participate in, mather@westportlandtrust.org

Our Trail Team, office volunteers and governance members are the heart of WLCT. We hope you will consider joining our new team who lead the effort to connect people to the land!
