Dear WLCT Community,

It is hard to believe that the Westport Land Conservation Trust (WLCT) is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year! You, our members, have been with us every step of the way. Thank you!

As we reflect on the past 50 years, we are reminded of the impact we have had in the community. Together, we have:

  • preserved over 5,038 acres of forests, fields, and wetlands.
  • become a regional leader in saving working farmland. By the end of this year, WLCT will have acquired, preserved, and resold six farms, keeping them forever working farmland and keeping that land affordable for the next generation.
  • connected people to the land. Over 15 miles of trails traverse all corners of our town and Westport Woods Conservation Park is open for all to explore.
  • achieved over 10,000 hours of volunteer service in the past five years alone. It takes a community to care for our land.

There is still much more to do! Forests, farms, and water resources that represent the best of Westport, including half of Westport’s freshwater resources, are still unprotected. Our vision for the next 50 years includes: preserving the best examples of Westport’s rural landscapes, being an exemplary steward of land, and connecting the community with nature to ensure that future generations know, love, and preserve Westport forever.

Help WLCT tell the story of the next 50 years. Support our 2022 Membership Campaign today! Donations of $500 or more will receive our limited edition 50th Anniversary baseball cap.

Sincerely,

Ross Moran
