Hanna Vogel has completed her artist in residency month at Westport Woods leaving behind beautiful and complex wire sculptures layered with paper pulp that form into the shape of honeycombs and other welded forest creatures. They appear to be growing out of the ground alongside a trunk like a conjoined twin of another species. Some are freestanding, emerging from the ground independently, asserting their claim to the natural world despite their inorganic origins. These pieces create a feeling of tension between growth and decay with sculptures that strive to surpass their own physical limits. Stop by and check out the new woodland accessible trail and keep your eyes peeled for all of the new installations intricately weaved into the landscape.
