One of the biggest challenges to experiencing the outdoors is accessibility for those with mobility issues. I had the pleasure this past year of working on a 2 phase project to create an All Persons Path through a portion of the meadow and woodlands at the Westport Land Conservation Trust’s home base at Westport Woods. An extension of an existing path system created for a Children’s Discovery Garden, the new path continues with themes of nature play and discovery. Adorned with outdoor sculpture, an outdoor classroom and enhanced with a variety of native plantings the path has become a staple for all visitors to the property. When I look out my office window and see folks from every walk of life strolling along and taking it all in it is a true reminder of why we do what we do here at WLCT.
