Winter StoryBook Walk

Head over to Westport Woods during the Holiday season to enjoy a storybook walk of ‘Once Upon a Pine Tree’ written by Westport’s Lynne Samson and Illustrated by Sandra Hall.

This hopeful story is about the adventures of pine trees as they go through the holidays with families and then to the compost heap where they have their own party, finally dissolving into the earth re-emerging as soil and flowers. The walk starts at the Children’s Discovery Garden and goes for a short loop around the All-persons trail. The Storybook Walk will be set up until the end of January. WLCT will be doing its own pine tree composting through January, so make sure to drop of your tree!

“The way I see it, our holiday trees are nature’s gift to us and we can return the gift by returning them to the earth. The Westport Land Conservation Trust is helping with this and so many other efforts to help us celebrate our co existence with this beautiful world we have been given. Proud to be a small part of such a great organization.” — Lynne Samson
