WLCT’s week of thanks features individuals, community members, and more who make our work possible. Each year we highlight just some of the many people who strive to preserve and connect our community to Westport’s natural beauty. Today we are thanking Gerald Lewandowski who farms on forever-preserved land!
Gerald and his wife have both been involved in farming since a very young age and wanted to share those experiences with their children.
Buying a piece of land with an Agricultural CR gave us the opportunity to achieve that on a place of our own. Not only will our family get to enjoy the experiences together, but also future generations will get to have the same opportunities since the land will always be kept in agricultural use.
Gerald Lewandowski
Gerald’s experience highlights the connections developed between landowners and Westport Land Conservation Trust. He writes, “WLCT has been great to work with over the years. During the purchase they were there to answer any questions there may have been about the CR on the property. They also have a great staff that are available to answer any and all questions you may have about anything involving the property. The annual CR monitoring visits in addition to monitoring the property also promote a closer relationship between CR property owners and WLCT.”
Thank you, Gerald! It’s a delight to watch you care for the land with the next generation of Westport farmers!
