TRAIL EXPLORERS: On the Hunt for Dragonflies with Ginger Brown
WLCT is thrilled to welcome odonate expert Virginia “Ginger” Brown to Westport Woods. We will have a talk about the biology and life of dragonflies and damselflies (order Odonata), and proceed on a trek down the trails to discover what species we can find here in the meadows and forests of our property.
Ginger is an expert in the field of these beautiful flying insects. Her work populates one of the definitive guides to odonata in the region; she recently published Dragonflies and Damselflies of Rhode Island in partnership with the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) Division of Fish and Wildlife. We are humbled and pleased to welcome her as one of the authorities on the subject, and look forward to connecting her knowledge with the community of Westport.
