South Coast Stroll: Herb Hadfield

The Westport River Watershed Association and Westport Land Conservation Trust are pleased to team up to present this series of visits to different ecological hotspots around Westport. Our South Coast Strolls will be a series of walks at different coastal locations throughout the spring. These walks will identify ecological hotspots around Westport with various features that entice different kinds of animal life to each, and explores the plant life that flourishes there.

The first of our spring walks exploring the South Coast will be at Herb Hadfield Conservation Area. Herb Hadfield is a restores grassland habitat, a veritable hotspot for birds in the springtime, and features an array of warm-season grasses as well as mixed wetlands, oak holly forest and edgeland habitat.

We recommend bringing a comfortable pair of shoes with a modicum of waterproofing, as well as optics such as a camera and/or binocular, and a water bottle.

We will meet at the trailhead parking area at the Cornell Road entrance to the property.
