outside, on Nature’s Stage!
The fields, grasslands and gardens of Westport Woods are places for folks to gather, learn, and to connect with the outdoors. Nature’s Stage, our summer performance series for young children, fosters that spirit of community and connection.
The Westport Land Conservation Trust is committed to “Connecting more people, including a more diverse range of people, to the land.” To do so, we have expanded youth programming with workshops, walks and family events. This year, with a grant from the Helen E. Ellis Charitable Trust and the Westport Community Gift Fund, we’ve launched a series of family-friendly concerts in our Children’s Discovery Garden called Nature’s Stage.
Connect
Nature’s Stage brings families together under the cherry trees and among the woodland plants in order to connect with nature and with one another. By encouraging families to be outdoors together, engaged in joyful activity, we hope to spark a lifelong connection to nature.
Spend A Moment on Nature’s Stage
Our June concert featured the music and movement of Miss Rhonda and her Backyard Band Jam. A plethora of folks from the community and beyond came to sing, dance, play and learn. Miss Rhonda’s teaching style engages toddlers and young children by encouraging parents.
The Children’s Discovery Garden was brought to life in a whole new way, as babies and parents shook, sang and danced, from pretending to be fish beneath the ocean, to enjoying summertime antics down by the bay.
