Blue Moon Walk at Westport Woods

Join Community Connections Coordinator Aaron Teixeira for an evening walk in the light of August’s Blue Moon. We will keep our eyes and ears open for the wildlife that awakens while the rest of the world sleeps!

August 31 presents a Calendrical Blue Moon – the second full Moon of the month – which will take place while the Moon is at its nearest point to Earth. This Moon cycle is called the Sturgeon Moon, so named “because the giant sturgeon of the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain were most readily caught during this part of summer” (Farmer’s Almanac).

This walk is free but space is limited. A headlight and comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Note: This event was originally scheduled for Wednesday, August 30 but we have rescheduled it for the following evening of Thursday, August 31 due to a more promising meteorological forecast.
