It Takes A Village

The Westport Cultural Council is pleased to announce its second of three summer Artists in Residence Program Workshops. On July 10th and July 11th, artist in residence Matt Magee will host It Takes a Village.

It Takes a Village is a collaborative art workshop using repurposed non-traditional materials. The objective is to work together to create a large banner composed of beach plastic, specifically plastic drink and detergent bottles. Participants will cut the bottles into shapes and string together the forms with wire. The banner will be suspended and help raise awareness of the large amount of plastics littering our oceans.

You are invited to participate in Matt Magee’s artist workshops on July 10th and 11th from 10 AM to 3 PM at Westport Woods Conservation Park. Participants are encouraged to bring their own plastic bottles with them to the workshop, although we will have some available to use as well. Please bring good quality scissors if you have them.

You must sign up in advance to participate. Space is limited. Reserve your space here: https://westportlandconservationtrust.salsalabs.org/it-takes-a-village
