Pine Tree Composting
Happy Holidays from the WLCT-
Recycle your Pine Tree!
Drop off location: 573 Adamsville Road, Westport Woods Conservation Area
Timing: The entire month of January
Now that celebrations are “wrapping” up, how about putting your Holiday tree to another good use? Recycle your tree with WLCT this year and reduce your impact on the environment. Your tree can biodegrade adding nutrients and mass back to the soil, support wildlife in its many stages, and strengthen sand dunes. There will be an area sectioned off in the parking lot to unload your tree, please remove all decorations and lights before dropping it off.
While you are at Westport Woods, take a walk on our all-persons trail which is featuring a storybook walk for the next month about tree composting! Starting on January 2nd at the end of the storybook walk, you can add a natural bird feeder ornament (pine cone with peanut butter and bird seed) to one of the recycled trees.
