Through the Seasons: Summer Walk
We are thrilled to return to Dunham’s Brook Conservation Area on our series of explorations at this unique property. Each entry of this walk invites enquiry of seasonal changes over the course of a year.
During our Spring walk, we heard the calls and songs of migratory birds passing through, and noticed the blooms of flowering species like orchids, Jack-in-the-pulpit and mountain laurels, and observed the budding of maples and oaks. With this Summer walk, we will look for late-season blooms and listen for the songs of animals rearing their young, and juveniles emerging from the nest. All the while, we’ll pass through the cool of the New England oak-holly forest that makes up the rear of much of this property.
This is a great opportunity to notice that changes that take place over large protected properties in our South Coast community!
