Transitional Ecosystems Walk

Come join Westport Land Trusts Nate McCullin on a guided walk at Westport Woods and get insight into the ecosystems being crafted and managed on the property.  With over 80 acres to explore there are a few distinct plant communities to observe.  From wetlands to upland forests and shrubland to grassy meadows the transitional points are often the most interesting.  Nate will discuss the importance of these distinct areas, explain why these habitats are important to various flora and fauna and integrate some identification techniques along the way.  Come learn about meadow grasses, shrubby habitat for birds and the successional forest that surrounds the main campus at Westport Woods.
