This February, WLCT invites you to Love the Land!

Mourning Doves softly coo; a pair of cardinals blaze red and soft pink; winterberry and holly flare along a trail; and moss glows green underfoot. The quiet of wintertime provides some of the most wonderful experiences for the seeker. What better way to experience the quiet colors of late winter than with a close companion, a friend, or loved one?

Get outside and love the land–there are so many opportunities to express your love of the outdoors!

  • Are you seeking that hidden treasure of the wild? On February 13, we are offering a family-friendly Nature Scavenger Hunt at Westport Woods, sure to delight and surprise explorers of all ages.
  • Want to write your name in the stars? We are hosting a Wintertime Stargazing event on February 18, taking advantage of the clear and crisp skies to identify some of the winter constellations in new England. What better way to delight a companion than seeking out the queen Cassiopeia in the night sky?
  • Perhaps you just want to get cozy on the trail and gather with some friends while making new acquaintances? Our social hiking series Cozy With Cocoa will take us around the forests and meadows of Westport Woods with a warm cup of cheer and the affable company of fellow winter travelers.
  • Maybe you are up for a little bit of a challenge, too? This past year, WLCT installed a series of Trail Explorers signs on each of our public access properties. From spring through the fall, we challenged visitors to find these 11 clues and unscramble their meaning for a themed prize. Do you have the passion to unearth these clues and solve the mystery? When you have, reach me at Aaron@WestportLandTrust.org with the message, and we will reward your efforts with a fun WLCT swag.

No matter how you spend Valentine’s Day and make your way through February, remember to take time to Love the Land!
