WLCT is grateful for the Westport community, without whom we would not be able to preserve, care, and connect people to the land. Each year we take this week to thank a few of the people who inspire us.
We rely on enthusiastic community volunteers who support our mission to preserve, steward and connect people to the land by serving on committees. As a horticulturalist and parent of school-aged children, Jess Cook provides a unique and insightful perspective to the Land Connections Committee. Jess always shows up and she does it with flair!
“I love all the WLCT locations, but Westport Woods is my favorite. For years I drove by dreaming about what could be there, hoping someone could appreciate the treasure. Now, I drive by mesmerized by the fields swaying and wondering about the next event there, knowing it is loved by all.”
“I was so excited when the land trust created Westport Woods. This large, beautiful piece of property can be accessible to and enjoyed by all. I continue to be amazed with the efforts that so many have made from our community to create such a special place to share. I am honored to be a part of that process on the Community Connections committee.”
