Preserve Land
For 53 years WLCT has collaborated with willing landowners in Westport and neighboring communities to preserve vital habitat, pristine open space, working farmland, and valuable lands for public enjoyment.
Every Land Preservation Project is Unique
We seek to preserve land that contains vital ecological resources, including habitat and water resources, is connected to other preserved lands, is suitable for passive recreation, or qualifies as working farmland.

These values are often key markers for public health and include characteristics such as:
- Ecologically Significant Habitats keystone species habitat, potential for rare species, wetland habitat, and more
- Working Agricultural Lands in support of Westport’s heritage as a farm community
- Watershed Impact rare coldwater streams, habitats that protect water entering the Westport River and Buzzards Bay
- History and Culture land that has cultural or historical significance
- Public Enjoyment including trails, water recreation, scenic views, and more
