Date: May 25, 2024
Time: 10-11:30am
Location: Dunham’s Brook Conservation Area 1520 Main Road, Westport MA
We are thrilled to return to Dunham’s Brook Conservation Area on our series of explorations at this unique property. Each entry of this walk invites enquiry of seasonal changes over the course of a year.
During our Winter walk, little more than the holly trees, club mosses and other quiet species were poking through the chilly frost of the forest understory and warm-season grass meadows. On our May walk, we’ll look for ephemeral bloomers and flowering species like Jack-in-the-pulpit, mountain laurels and the developing buds of maples and oaks. We’ll also take advantage of the height of springtime migration to see what birdlife is traveling through this potential stopover for long-range avian travelers visiting our farm coast community.
