Observing the Skies: The Geminids

Location: Westport Woods.

Winter’s clear, cold skies are perfect for viewing meteor showers. 

We’ll have binoculars for use. Please dress warmly!

Who is this for:

  • This is a family-friendly event for the astronomically-inclined

What to wear & bring:

  • Layers
  • Sturdy, closed-toed shoes
  • Weather-appropriate clothing
  • Binoculars, particularly a pair with a large field of vision
  • A chair, yoga mat, blanket to sit or lie on

What to expect:

  • This event will take place entirely outdoors; be prepared to look upward
  • We’ll be gathered in a darkened area at Westport Woods where the night sky will be particularly illuminated

  • No pets
