Brookside Conservation Area

Brookside Conservation Area provides easy and scenic access for walkers and fisherman to the banks of Bread and Cheese Brook.

Downstream of the parking lot is a stunning granite bridge at stream level that was one of the original crossings of the brook used by farmers and will workers. Visitors to the property immediately enjoy the serenity and beauty of the flowing water of Bread and Cheese Brook as it winds toward the east Branch of the Westport River. Brookside was acquired in two parcels, a generous land gift of the Ferry family, and a purchase from the Raposa brothers, funded in part with the help of the Town’s Community Preservation Fund and the Massachusetts Department of Fish and Wildlife.
