Members receive invitations to special Member Appreciation Programs and are invited to vote at our Annual Meeting each May. Donors of $500 or more are invited to our annual Celebration of Conservation in August.

Annual Giving provides the financial foundation that allows Westport Land Conservation Trust to protect vital community resources. We rely on this unrestricted giving to support our day-to-day operations.

  • monitoring land protected under Conservation Restrictions and Agricultural Preservation Restrictions
  • caring for the land entrusted to us, including habitat restoration, invasives removal, and public access
  • creating programming that connects people of all ages to the land
  • enables us to move quickly when important properties come to market

If you have any questions about membership and its benefits or annual giving, please contact Charlotte Greeson.

Working with individuals and state and local partners, WLCT raises funds to acquire and steward land in perpetuity. WLCT looks for properties that reflect the conservation values of our community: habitat that protects rare and endangered species, water resources, land that is contiguous with other protected land, and working farmland.

If you are interested in supporting a specific land preservation project, please speak with Executive Director Ross Moran.

A gift to the Westport Land Conservation Trust in your will, trust, and/or retirement plan conserves Westport’s open space, working farmland and critical natural habitats are cared for and protected for years to come.

Providing for WLCT in your will, trust, and/or retirement plan has a meaningful impact on Westport’s future and has benefits for you. By making a planned gift you can:

  • Leave a conservation legacy for generations to come
  • Reduce the tax burden for your heirs
  • Have the gift be revocable in the event that life circumstances change
  • Make a major impact without affecting your finances today

The Westport Land Conservation Trust’s Legacy Circle honors individuals who are committed to preserving and conserving Westport’s legacy of working farmlands and open space and have included WLCT in their long-term plans through their will, estate, or as a beneficiary of their retirement or insurance plan, bank accounts or Donor Advised Fund. WLCT’s Legacy Circle will enable us to continue to preserve, steward, and connect people to the land well into the future.

Please let us know if you choose to name Westport Land Conservation Trust, Inc. in your planned giving. With your permission, we will recognize you as a member of our Legacy Circle. Legacy Circle members are named in our publications and invited to a luncheon each summer.

Donations of land and conservation restrictions are one strategy a landowner can execute to preserve land with WLCT.

WLCT will work with you to explore the important conservation characteristics of your property and evaluate the most suitable form of preservation. Landowners who donate land to WLCT may be eligible for tax benefits through the Federal and State Governments.

Contact Executive Director Ross Moran to talk about options for your land.
