Why did you join the Tuesday Trail Team?
“I was taking a master gardener course and had a certain number of service hours related to gardening that were required to complete the course. I wasn’t sure what to do and then I found the land trust. It fit well with my interests and so I started showing up on Tuesdays in September of 2015. I’ll have been volunteering with the trail team for three years next month. I actually stopped keeping track of my service hours about a month into volunteering with the land trust because I knew it was something I was going to keep doing once the master gardener course ended.”
Why do you keep showing up every Tuesday?
“I stay with the trail team because I’ve always been someone who loved the outdoors. I grew up in Fall River but my grand parents lived in Westport. I can remember visiting them in the summer when I was child and running around in the woods with friends. I like to keep active and I feel a real ownership of the properties and trails. I take pride in that. I know I’m contributing to something that’s great for the community and it’s nice to see that there are a lot of people who feel the same way.”
