The Tuesday Trail Team is WLCT’s corps of trail blazing volunteers!

Each Tuesday the group meets to advance the mission of WLCT out on the land. Whether that means building boardwalks, planting bulbs or clearing briers–there’s no project too big or too small for the Trail Team.

Here’s a sneak peak at what Trail Team activities are in store for next month:

Westport Woods Children's Garden (Ongoing)

Did you know WLCT is creating an area for young families to enjoy and explore? With the help of landscape architect Michelle Crowley, we have created a plan for a Children’s Garden at Westport Woods. This area will be located behind the main parking lot and will include open-ended natural elements for children to explore. Volunteer with the Tuesday Trail Team this February and March to assist with the construction of this new, fun place for families to enjoy.

Brookside Conservation Area Meadow Management

You’ve probably heard the question asked, “how often do you mow a meadow for wildlife habitat?” Join the Tuesday Trail Team on February 4th at Brookside Conservation Area to find out!

Herb Hadfield Conservation Area Bog Bridging (Ongoing)

We’ve been extending bog bridging at Herb Hadfield Conservation Area and could use your help! It’s muddy, messy work but makes a big difference for hikers and dog-walkers who frequent this beautiful property.

Mill Pond Conservation Area Invasive Plant Management

Winter is a great time to tackle invasive woody shrubs like autumn olive and privet. Volunteer with the Trail Team at Mill Pond Conservation Area on February 11th and you’ll learn keys to identifying and tricks for managing that overgrown mess of thorns in your backyard.

Special places don’t stay special on their own. Our dedicated volunteers make sure every one of our destination properties is ready for your next adventure.
